Arun Jaitley is an Indian politician and attorney and he was the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019.
Personal Life:-
Arun Jaitley was born on 28 December 1952, his father Maharaj Kishen Jailey was a lawyer used to stay in Naraina Vihar, New Delhi and mother Ratan Prabha was a housewife who love and dedicated her spare time to social work. His Parents Migrated to Delhi from Lahore.
Arun Jaitley married to Sangeeta, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra, in 1982. They have two children, Rohan and Sonali; the latter married Jaiyesh Bakhshi.
Education:-
Arun Jailtey studied a St. Xavier’s School, Delhi from 1957-69. He graduated with a honours degree in commerce, BCom from Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi in 1973. He competed his LLB from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in 1977.
During the period of international emergency (1975-1977) he organised the first protest against the Emergency that day (26th June) he arrested in 26th June 1975 and organised. He underwent incarceration for 19 months in Tihar Jail. It gives him certain vision to woking of the human mind and he read a lot of books on that duration, it gave him in good stead in later life.
Jaitley has been practising law before Supreme Court in many high courts in the country in 1987. In 1990, he became a senior advocate in Delhi High Court.
Political Journey:-
In 1977, Jaitley joined Jan Sanggh and also joined Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parisad (ABVP). After that he become ABVP Secretary of India and president of the Delhi ABVP. In 1980, Jaitley became a member of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and founder of BJP Yuva Brigade Delhi. He has been a member of the national executive of BJP since 1991. He became the speaker of BJP in 1999. He serve a post of Minister of state Department of Information, Broadcasting, Law Justice and Company Affairs in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He became a state minister( Gujarat) of disinvestment ministery in 1999.
In 2000, he selected for member of parliament minister of Law, Justice, shipping and Company Affairs. After Ram Jethmalani Resion resignation, Jaitley became Cabinet Minister of Law Justice then he present a new law Civil Procedure Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and done many change in Company’s Act. He resigned from his post for becoming party secretary in 2002, he serve as a party speaker and again become minister of Commerce & industry and justice of India and gave a new vision in India for World’s Business Circle which is still follow in India.
During 26 May 2014 – 30 May 2019, He was posted as a Minister of Finance
