Macbook 2016: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 2016 release date and news
There was a literal storm in the Apple world when about a week ago, rumors surfaced that the company has deliberately placed a yet-to-be-released MacBook out in the open and allowed it to be filmed during a TV show. However, as the rumor died down and was proven to be false, many were left with the strong suspicion that the company has concrete plans in place to refresh the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineup next year.
Earlier this year, Apple released the 12-inch MacBook with Retina display. Now, Laptopmag states that the company is not going to offer an 11-inch MacBook Air as it will clash with the MacBook and the iPad Pro. Instead, Apple will focus on releasing a 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook Air. As for the release date of the devices, rumors for months have been indicating that the MacBook Air lineup will be refreshed during WWDC 2016, which is due to happen in the first week of June. Also, the MacBook Air, which is currently offered in 11 inches and 13 inches, does not have Retina display and it is likely that Apple will be upgrading the display on the lineup in 2016.
As for the MacBook Pro, rumors point to the device also being refreshed in 2016. Importantly, Apple could be looking to overhaul the components in the powerful laptop completely. This is because the lineup has not been updated since 2013.
Finally, with the rumor about the new MacBook Air appearing on the “60 Minutes” show being refuted, it appears that Apple is still a while away from releasing the device. Other rumors have also pointed towards the company possibly releasing the MacBook Air sometime during the months of April and May, and pushing the release of the MacBook Pro to June.
