I wrote this article which will describe about the best places to visit in Finland. I had good experience exploring these places. If you are planning to stay more than 4-5 days then must visit these places 🙂
Lapland
In Winter, tourism is concentrated around winter activities in Lapland. since Finland is less expensive than Norway or Sweden. Lapland is Finland’s northernmost region, a sparsely populated area bordering Sweden, Norway, Russia and the Baltic Sea. It’s known for its vast subarctic wilderness, ski resorts and natural phenomena including the midnight sun and the Northern Lights. There are no mountains in Finland, the sun makes perfect reflection in calm waters. That is why Finland is probably the best place fo it.
Helsinki
Helsinki is the capital of Finland, is the gateway to exploring the country. The city itself offers a bunch of architectural structures from both old and the modern, as well as public parks such as keskuspuisto National Forest, Helsinki Cathedral, Sibelius Monument, Finlandia Hall, Design Museum, Market square, Uspenski Cathedral, The National Museum of Finland, Lammassaari Island.
Tampere
Tampere is a city in southern Finland. It sits between Näsijärvi Lake and Pyhäjärvi Lake, with the Tammerkoski rapids in between. The Vapriikki Museum Center houses several museums, including the Natural History Museum and an exhibition about the 1918 civil war. Tampere Cathedral is known for its macabre frescoes.
Santa Clause Villege
A popular destination is Santa Clause Village, but I would say it is more for families and kids. It is an amusement park in Rovaniemi in the Lapland region of Finland. The Santa Claus Park that is connected to the Santa Claus Village was in 2007 awarded by Topworld International and placed as the second best Travel Adventure in Finland. Santa’s hut is as warm and inviting as big man himself. His office is probably the most exciting place in the world for children.
Turku
Turku, a city on the southwest coast of Finland, straddles the Aura River. Dating from the 13th century, it’s known for Turku Castle, a medieval fortress with a history museum, perched at the river mouth. It was the old capital of Finland. It houses the famous twin museum, agora vets and Are Nova and the famous castle. Turku Castle is situated in the oldest town of medieval culture and traditional in Finland.
Porvoo
A cute, not to miss town. A lot of old wooden architecture and small design shops and house. It is second oldest city in Finland(according to tour guide). Porvoo is famous for this riverside houses. They are painted in red since 1700-something. Colourful houses with worn-out part and handmade elements make a strong contrast with germ-free modern Finland. But I personally find the overall ” It is nice place for shopping, good coffee and old”
Soumenlinna
Suomenlinna is an 18th-century sea fortress and nature area with centuries-old artillery and defensive walls, spread across 6 linked islands. There’s also a brewery and several waterside restaurants. It’s one of the most popular tourist attraction in Helsinki and a great place to picnic in the summer, though it is open all the year.
