Sushma Swaraj (14 February 1952 – 6 August 2019) was an Indian politician and a Supreme Court lawyer. She was served as a External Affairs Minister of India. She was the second woman to hold the office, after Indira Gandhi. She was very perfect in her work and one of the popular politicians allover the world. Personal Life:-
Sushma was born in 14 February, 1952 in Amabala, Haryana. Her father name was Hardev Sharma and mother Lakshmi Sharma. Her father was RSS Member. After Completing her school, she got admission in Sanatan Dharma College, from those days only she was interested in politics and she always actively participated in college politics and joined ABP. She was very bright student and got best student award in college. She joined NCC at 18 years of age and got best cadet award in NCC. She wanted to join army but those days girls were not allowed to join the army, that’s why she couldn’t join the army. After completing college, she joined Panjab University for LAW Study. She was famous student there also and got best Hindi Speaker Award at state level competition continuously three years in a row. In 1973 she completed her LAW study and joined Supreme Court for Law practicing as a lawyer. She met Swaraj Kushal in 1974 and after some time she got married with him. After marriage, her title was changed from Sushma Sharma to Sushma Swaraj. Her husband, Swaraj Kaushal, was closely associated with the socialist leader George Fernandes and Sushma Swaraj became a part of George Fernandes’s legal defence team in 1975.
State political carrier:–
She actively participated in social revolution, In those days she joined Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) and became a national leader. She was member of Haryana legislative assembly (1977 to 1982) on that time she was youngest cabinet minister. After that she became Haryana State president at the age of 27 only and she also became Haryana Education Minister (1987-1990). She was First Female Chief Minister of Delhi.
National Political Carrier:-
She was Union Cabinet Minister announced for information and Broadcasting with additional charge of the Ministry of Telecommunications. Her most notable decision during this period was to declare India Cinema as an Indian Film Industry so that film maker can easily apply loan and bank finance. She also became a Minister of health ministry and took approval for six AIIMS Hospitals in India. She won the 2009 election for the 15th Lok Sabha from the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh by the highest margin of over 400,000 votes. Sushma Swaraj became Leader of Opposition in the 15th Lok Sabha in place of Lal Krishna Advani on 21 December 2009 and retained this position till May 2014 when in 2014 Indian general election her party got a major victory.
Swaraj had served as the Indian Minister of External Affairs under Prime Minister Narendra Modi from May 2014 to May 2019 and helped many Indian people who got stuck and facing any problem in other countries and her important role to Indian airforce Pilot Abhinandan returning back to India. In 2018 she announced that she will not continue her post due to her health issues.
On 6 August 2019, Sushma Swaraj reportedly suffered a heart attack in the evening after which she was rushed to AIIMS Delhi, where she later died of a cardiac arrest.
